I had a raucously wild moment in a coaching session a few days ago.
I whooped and hollered. I clapped and cheered. I think I might even have slapped the desk.
On the other side of the Zoom screen, my lovely coachee was grinning.

“And I got the job!”
That was the punchline I’d been longing to hear as she told me about her interview the week before.
What a joyous moment. She’s going to be a first-time CEO for a fabulous local charity she loves.
We are both absolutely thrilled. It’s what we’ve been working towards for a few months in our coaching. Our goal? A local role. An ambitious step-up. A mission she is totally passionate about.
And she did it. What a star!
Jackie’s story
Six months ago, Jackie took voluntary redundancy from a big-name charity where things had been frustrating her for years.
She knew that it felt safe and comfortable where she was, too. She had great colleagues and a role she cared deeply about, but things were changing and it no longer felt right.
So, she took the hugely brave decision to take voluntary redundancy – with no new role ahead of her.
Sometimes, in your heart of hearts, you just know you need to make a big leap.
Do you know that feeling, too?
What’s next?
Good question! You might not have a clue what’s next, but do you have a niggly feeling that you need to shake things up to invite something new in?
Even though it’s scary.
So you might not be ready to put yourself out of a job. But is it the right time to have a look at what might be possible for you, too?
Your fabulous vision
One of the activities I did with Jackie – and, in fact, with all my coaching clients looking to create change – is to invite them to take an imaginary leap over all the things getting in the way in a visioning exercise.
The reason? Well, if you put all your energy and focus on the ‘what ifs’ and ‘yes buts’, it limits your thinking and puts a block on your imagination. It will actually stop you imagining what might truly be possible.
In the exercise I invite you to take a leap of faith over the ‘swamp of fear’, as I call it. You take a journey into the future, drawing on your wise inner ‘knowing’.

The ‘You’ that knows everything will be just fine
When I did the vision exercise recently in a gathering of leaders, the women there saw futures for themselves that they had never imagined. It was truly wonderful to witness. It gave them faith and belief that they could get there.
How fabulous would that be for you, too?

Maybe you’d like to up your game at work. Maybe you’re looking for a new role, or exploring a new direction entirely.
Let’s have a no-pressure chat about coaching together.
