I thought the last two months would be a horror-show. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I was booked for knee surgery in mid-March. The same op on knee number one, two years ago, had been grim and I was fearful about going through it all again.

But second time around everything felt different.

The slog was real

It’s been a right slog. The pain is not funny. The physio exercises are hard and sooo boring. Progress is slow.

But I moved through it all fairly easily. And here I am, back at work. ๐ŸŽ‰

An unexpected gift

Recovery time off work turned out to be a gift.

It gave me space away from day-to-day life to mull things around, to dream, to explore.

2025 was a tough year for my coaching business. I knew I had to get out of my ‘thinking brain’ to find creative answers. But there just hadn’t been the time.

Recovery from my knee op gifted me exactly that – a pause away from the demands of my routine to lift my head up and see things differently.

I’ve been able to reimagine my work in the last few weeks and come out with a plan I’m genuinely excited about.

Sounds familiar?

What about you?

  • Have you been wondering what to do about not enjoying work much lately?
  • Perhaps talking endlessly about what’s not right but never actually doing anything?
  • Scrolling through the job ads while worrying about getting your next step wrong?

The problem is, as long as your focus is relentlessly on the busyness and challenge of each day, it’s so hard to get a more imaginative, bigger picture and a glimpse of what else might be possible.

When you’re caught up in the daily rush, there’s simply no room in your head.

That’s your analytical brain in overdrive. It literally crowds out the creative, bigger-picture thinking you need to get a feel for the future.

The good news

You don’t kneed a nasty op to get time and space. (Couldn’t resist. ๐Ÿคฃ)

My Work You Love career coaching programme creates that essential pause.

It’ll give you the chance to slow down, get creative with your ideas and find a work direction that’s absolutely right for you – be it a new job or role, a career pivot or a new enterprise entirely.

I’ll be right there by your side, cheering you on, guiding your explorations and making sure we turn your ideas into a proper plan.

What others say

“When I first started working with Katie, I was considering the next step in my career. Logically it should’ve been CEO – but I wasn’t sure if I wanted that.

I’m a deep thinker and sometimes I get stuck in the thought process. So, to have somebody who was completely independent and objective to where I was personally and from a career perspective was really helpful. Just knowing that I could have that objective conversation with somebody who gets me – and even have a laugh – was really important to me. I could have some things spinning around in my head for weeks and then after a 45-minute conversation with Katie, I’d solved the problem.

I became a CEO quite early on in our work together. But there are so many things that Katie’s set me doing that I still do now – for instance making sure my self-talk is positive. Compassion that I’d always use naturally with others, I wasn’t necessarily using on myself. Small things that have made a huge impact.

I’ve just booked her for a second round of coaching, so what would I say to anyone thinking about working with Katie? Do it! I would advocate it massively. It’s been so helpful.”
