Have you heard about my Work You Love career coaching programme and want to know a bit more?

Work You Love is my one-to-one coaching programme for mission-driven CEOs and senior leaders who want to make sure that their next career step is exactly right for them.

Is Work You Love right for you?

In this blog, I cover absolutely everything you might want to know to find out if this programme is a good fit for you and your career goals and whether you’re ready for a Chemistry Call with me. (If you still have questions when you’ve read it, don’t hesitate to give me a shout at katie@katieduckworth.com).

What exactly is Work You Love?

Work You Love is my one-to-one career coaching programme in which we take a deep, curious dive over six months into ‘you’, to uncover exactly how you can make the biggest impact in the world while absolutely loving the work that you do.

Sounds good?

Who is it for?

Work you Love is designed exclusively for leaders in the non-profit and mission-driven world who want to make their next step exactly the right one.

It’s for for you if:

You’re a CEO or senior leader in the mission-driven or non-profit world

You’re willing to invest time, energy and resources in this transformational work (nope, this is not a ‘quick fix’ cookie-cutter programme)

You know the huge value of 1-1 coaching already

You’ve willing to go outside your comfort zone and get vulnerable and curious about yourself

You’re already an experienced non-profit professional

You’re pretty sure you’ve got more to give, though you might be feeling fed-up and jaded right now

It’s not for you if:

You urgently need to find a new job

You want to move into the not-for-profit sector (Sorry, other folks, I have to focus where I know I can have the biggest impact)

What you really need is the nuts and bolts of CVs, applications and interview advice

You take yourself hugely seriously and can’t imagine having a laugh while we work together (which we will, I promise)

You could probably read a book and sort it out for yourself (if that’s the case, go for it – you’ve got this)

How does the programme work?

Once we’re all signed up and ready to go, I’ll invite you to complete a DISC personality assessment (a bit like Myers Briggs, only better) and fill in my ‘Where am I now?’ self-assessment form. These two together give me a good idea of where you’re at and give you space to think about the journey we’re embarking on together.

I know what you’re thinking- “I’ve done these to death!”. But if it was more than a few years ago, the chances are that we need to do them again, to dig into what’s true for you right now.

Then we’ll get going on the seven steps in my Work You Love pathway.

  •  you’ll come up with a fabulous vision for your future and get to know yourself like you’ve never done before
  •  we’ll take a deep dive into the totally unique person that you are, so we can identify exactly the right work for you based on your skills, passions, preferred ways of working etc. Work you will love and in which you will absolutely thrive
  • we’ll expose the pesky gremlins which I guarantee will sabotage your efforts without careful attention (some of these fear-based creatures have very, very loud voices) and we’ll put into play powerful strategies to move them right along.
  • only then will we explore possible avenues where your unique offer matches exactly what’s needed in the world (I know how important it is is for you to use your skills and experience for good)
  • and finally, we’ll set you a fabulous goal and get you going on fulfilling your vision. By the end of the programme, you might even have begun that impactful new job; set up your new consultancy; started your new training, or whatever it is that’s next for you.

Six months can feel like a long time. Sometimes, I have to tell my clients quite firmly to hold their nerve. “But what am I actually going to do?,” they share as the weeks go by and they’re still not clear on their next step. I really get it. As I said, the gremlins can get you to, big time. But my answer is to trust, and trust some more, Both in themselves and me, and in the process – because it all works, beautifully. A client recently told me, as her exploratory work finally came together that I’d been right after all. That Work You Love really is “magic”.

Warning!!

For the first few step on the Pathway, we’re focusing entirely on YOU, so I advise clients not to apply for roles or distract themselves by scanning job ads (unless there’s a truly fabulous reason in which case we’ll talk about it together.) Yep, really! The thing is, they’re working with me for a reason – to create space to find exactly what’s right for their next career step. We don’t want to sabotage that by jumping at the first thing that comes along. Job scouring takes up a lot of time and emotional energy, too, which is better spent on our transformational work.

How does that sound?

How much is One Step Beyond

Leadership coaching packages from a commercial leadership coach costs £15,000 plus!

As a died-in-the-wool non-profit sector native, I know that kind of money is just not available.

So I try to keep my prices as affordable as possible.

Your investment will be a small fraction of that, depending on your circumstances.

Sounds like a lot for some career coaching? I get it, I really do. I know you have to think carefully about your finances.

I’m not cheap, no, but I’m not expensive either.

Not when you think of the depth of transformation working with me over six months can bring. My Work You Love programme takes my clients from deeply unhappy or stuck, or confused or unconfident or unsure about where on earth to take their energies next, to thriving every day in the work they were born to do.

This work takes time. It’s not sticky plaster stuff. I’m not just dashing in and fixing things like an emergency plumber. Or just making sure that you get a job. Any job.

No! Things happen after Work You Love.

It’s notoriously tricky to asses ROI for coaching but consider this. Our work together could lead you to a major salary increase that could easily have passed you by. Your new-found energy and focus could galvinise a new team to bring in record levels of income. Perhaps a small charity’s work will now get to expand and grow under your powerful leadership.

And what price is deep, fulfillment and contentment with the work you do Every Single Day, knowing you’re doing the absolutely best work possible for you to create positive change in the world?

Really.

Anything is possible.

This coaching programme is transformational.

It will likely change your life.

And don’t forget, you’ll be working with an expert in her field with a long and proven track record of coaching wonderful, committed people that the sector does not want to lose, into work they find deeply fulfilling and which brings joy – however difficult circumstances were when they came to me.

I am totally dedicated to you and to getting you the very best results possible.

How valuable is that?

Why did I create the programme?

I created Work You Love because I could see how very much it was needed. Over the 13 years I’ve been coaching, again and again I’ve witnessed fabulous people getting seriously stuck in their careers and I really, really wanted to something about that:

  1. People spending literally years procrastinating about moving on, even though the joy had gone right out of their work. Staying where it was safe. Getting caught up in all the ‘yes, buts’ and ‘what ifs’,  Letting the mindset gremlins run the show felt like a huge loss when they could be making a wonderful contribution elsewhere
  2. I saw people spending hours trawling job ads, tweaking CVs, applying for roles that weren’t quite right. All that energy wasted was painful to see
  3. I saw loyalty to their current organisations seriously holding people back. How many times did I hear the phrase “I’d be letting my team down if I left”!
  4. I saw talented leaders not making progress in their careers because they simply didn’t know what to do next or they lacked the confidence to make a bold move or to get started on a long-held dream because they didn’t know how.
  5. And more recently, there’s been another motivation. I’ve seen a lot of quitting. It’s tough in our sector right now. Talented leaders are getting burned out from the pressures and they’re heading out, never to return. I really want to do something to address that.

This is why I created Work You Love and it’s why Work You Love is not just quick fix coaching carried out over a few short weeks.

It’s a deep, transformational programme helping mission-driven people find new joy in their work while leading impactful and positive change.

What kinds of results do people get?

Over the years I’ve coached many wonderful people into all types of purpose-led work that feels absolutely great. Here’s a few of my results:

  • a senior leader in a major conservation charity had lost all her confidence when she’d had to leave a job she loved. She’s now thriving as a first-time CEO of a campaigning organisation
  • another desperately needed a change after heading up a health charity for many years. We identified that tackling new challenge was what brought out the best in her and she’s now loving Interim CEO roles within her own newly set-up consultancy
  • a third had a major internal promotion in an environmental charity after working with me and is now thriving in his global role.
  • one of the more unexpected results of Work You Love is that you might find you love the work you’re already doing after all! While we’re looking at new options. we also explore how to make your current situation more fulfilling. You may find that a fresh mindset and a few tweaks in behaviour make it just perfect after all. So be prepared for that. If staying put is the right path, you’ll know it, I promise

Can I speak to you before I make a decision about whether it’s for me or not?

Yes, definitely. In fact, I’d want to have a good chat first to make sure I’m the right person to support you. We want to check out the most important element in the coaching relationship, our ‘chemistry’ (“Chemistry? Yes, chemistry!”)* and know that we can both get excited about our journey together. After that, we’ll have as many calls as you need, before you make your decision.

How do I sign up?

Are you nodding along now with a pretty good feeling that Work You Love could be the very thing? Yeh!!! Book in your Chemistry Call here and let’s have a chat to make sure.

*Tell me which love-struck guy says this iconic line when you book your call and if we work together, I’ll give you a copy of my top inspirational read The Joy Of Work, by Bruce Daisley (Yep, I’m a sucker for some Musical Theatre.)
